Sperm Donation

In common language use the term "sperm donation" belongs to the field human medicine. Sperm donation is done to freeze adequate sperms, which will be later used for an artificial insemination. Sperm donation is not just used in human medicine, also cattles are partly raised with donated sperms. The donated sperms are kept in sperm banks and are available for couples who desperately want to have a child. It´s used when the man is not able to produce enough sperms or when other reasons make it necessary.

Sperm donations are always available in sperm banks and retrievable every time.

Anonymity between donator and the woman who receives the sperms is always warranted- an exchange of personal datas is an absolute no go. Since 1986 the artificial insemination with sperm donations is a legal procedure in Germany. Sperm banks in Germany which manage sperm donations are obliged to consider to warrant a safe quality of all donators. The obligations are lawfully set. In order to arrange an artificial insemination in Germany a few conditions need to be fulfilled- for ethic and lawful reasons. History is the so-called embryo protective law, which still is used in its version from 1991. Also the federal medical association did create some guidelines which need to be considered when you use artificial insemination with donated sperms.

The guidelines from the federal medical association do not have a lawful obliging background,

but belong to medical orderliness. The embryo protective law needs to be considered though and is obliging to sperm banks. An extension from 2006 now says that just married couples or heterosexual couples who live cohabited do have access to sperm donations from sperm banks. This is badly criticized and not the case in plenty european states.
