The human hair is a slender outgrowth of the skin. It consists of keratin proteins and is pigmented by melanin. The structure and the colour of the hair are hereditary. That is a disease, called Alopecia circumscripta. It causes bald areas on the head. This areas have the form of a circle. Sometimes this local baldness disappears by itself. But it also can happen, that the hair loss spreads and the head gets completely bald. The cause of this disease is not exactly known. It is estimated, that an incorrect working immune system is the reason for that kind of hair loss.

The best time to treat hair loss is before it comes to entire baldness. Most pills and lotions, taken when the scalp is already hairless doesn’t fulfil what they promise. The most effective treatment for a bald head is a hair transplantation. In case of the hair loss is still in progress, special medicaments can be helpful if the cause of the hair loss is exactly diagnosed.
