Why does a car look like it looks? Because designers were occupied with it several months. Because the market, the target groups and the concurrence were analysed. Because the car was concepted very close to the actual developpment. Because only a thing is sold when it is chic, modern and new. Of course these reflections are also influenced by the price fixing. If a car model is developped for a big market like for example the typical small cars for the town, it must not have the character of a status symbol at all. In contrary the wished image can lie anywhere between economy and reliability. But if it is developped for a little selected target group and is found on a very high price level it has to offer optically quite a lot.

Typically the highprized carmodels are tendentially more made for a male target group.

Now as before fact is that mostly the man drives the more expensive bigger car in families with several cars. Here the car makes plain its status as a head of the family. So it should be fit out clearly with male dominating attributes. Therefore are the classic thick shock-absorbers. In the meantime at many models there is a chromium-plated conspicuous bonnet as well as a thick chromium-plated exhausts. Shaded panes also belong to the male repertory like the conspicuous fastenings for athletic fittings on the roof racks. The surfboard, the bike or the skis are exhibited demonstratively. The owner also betrays concerning the interior equipment: Small cars are mostly offered in inconspicuous, hard-wearing material and design for the female target group. In contrary the material may be marked black or elegant brown, even expensive white leather. The volume of the steering-wheel is bigger and embellished with more technical ambitioning accessories. The interior equipment and the armatures are voluminous and technical while they are held more inconspicuous and simple in women’s cars.
