Since 25 years the topic venereal diseases is conditioned by the HIV/AIDS infection. In the meantime the majority of sexually active people knows how to protect against it. Who feels safe to rub shoulders with a HIV-negative sex partner neglects with good grace the prevention. He/she ignores completely that a range of other venereal diseases threathens health, too. Extremely malignant can be the course of liver infections like hepatitis A, B and C. An infection with hepatitits A and B can happen by means of unprotected sexual intercourse. Both forms of infection are treatable – however, the treatment doesn’t always result in a removal of the infection. There is a possibility of a protective inoculation against both infections. A hepatitis C infection mostly happens only via an exchange of blood which takes place by means of the use of joint syringes.

But also during unprotected sexual intercourse an infection with hepatitis C can’t be excluded hundred per cent.

There isn’t a protective inoculation. Some people can be cured from the disease. Others have got a serious lifelong chronic infection. Diagnosed in time it can be treated rather well. A too far advanced infection can certainly lead to serious sanitary harms. A further bacterial infection is gonorrhoea – a painful inflammation of the urethra. It can be combatted with antibiotics. Widely spread is also the viral infection herpes. It hardly can’t be removed completely but not all infected people show symptoms. Mycosises and chlamydiae are very easily communicable via sexual intercourse, too. Indeed they are treatable very well. At first sight harmless but very malignant are acuminate condylomae. They occur on the genitals or on the anus. They have to be treated very thoroughly. Without a sufficient treatment they are reputed to be the elicitor of dangerous forms of cancer like cancer of the uterus and cancer of the rectum.
